Our Thousand Islands Secondary School students are so very blessed to have the transition supports of Career Services! Next steps after high school can be intimidating if you don't have a plan and an understanding of supports available in the community. Carrie and Ryan get to know our students early on in their high school journey and work with them on next steps to bring them closer to their goals for community connections, financial supports, greater independence, employment readiness and further education. Our partnership with Career Services has made all the difference for some of our highest needs students!
Career Services exemplifies responsiveness and client driven service delivery and coordination in our community. Their staff are an invaluable resource to some of our more vulnerable community members and I can rest assured that when a referral is made, my clients are in good hands." I mean every word of this - it is a privilege to collaborate with you and your team!
My daughter started with career services (while in high-school) when she was looking for an alternative summer job. The team was very supportive and inclusive. They listened to her concerns without passing judgement. Then supported her in her choices which in turn gave her confidence in herself to keep making strides. She has since decided to stay in her current job with the assistance of ideas and discussions to include her boss in her challenges. This has lessened her anxiety greatly. The virtual reality sessions allowed her the confidence to learn working as a cashier. Working with her lead contact has been very rewarding for both my daughter and our family. When we were lost and frustrated not knowing where to turn for help, her lead contact was instrumental in her guidance and support.
