For Job Seekers

Overview

Employment and Vocation Services

People come to Career Services for assistance in finding or keeping a job. We help people prepare for, explore and find suitable pre-vocational and employment options.

Career Services can help an individual with barriers to employment make employment or volunteer work a reality.   Some services are provided through one-on-one supports.  Career Services also offers some small group programs; some programs include a job placement or job trial.

Career Services is partially funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to provide employment services for people who have a developmental/intellectual disability. Funds from our industry and social enterprise help to support the remaining costs and allow the agency to provide services for some job seekers who have other disabilities.

I Want to find a job; What can I expect if I go to Career Services?

Finding work takes a team.  Career Services can work with you, to help you discover more about yourself, the workforce and jobs.

We can help you prepare for work and look for work. If you need help learning how to perform your duties on your job, we can help with that too.

Consult Meeting

A consult meeting is a chance to hear more about our services. Together we can decide if registering with Career Services is right for you.

If together we decide that Career Services is the right program for you at this time; we will schedule a registration meeting where we will learn more about you and how we can work together.

My Discovery Steps

Through our Pathways to Employment and Pre-Vocational Services, you will learn about yourself, your skills for work and the work habits employers will expect.  We can help you build a foundation for work and an Employment Plan outlining the steps to reach your goals. Some of these services are provided one-on-one with your Employment Developer and some are provided in small group sessions.
